The other side of things

Ahem...

Even at the risk of sounding precariously feminine, I must admit that shopping acts as an awesome stress reliever for me. And by 'shopping', I mean going to a nearby 'super-mall' (there are just so many of them here in Ahmedabad!) and spending an hour or so surfing through the millions of things on the offer, trying out different things, wondering which one I need the most, making hundreds of choices but in the end realizing that the tightness of my budget would only allow me one or two small items, so making some more choices, buy the thing and come back a happy owner of, say, a brand new pillow-cover or an awesome new after-shave lotion...

There are times, however, when I do give in to the temptation and go for the splurge. And nothing seduces me more that shoes. More specifically, Bata. I love their range and the value for money they offer. Perhaps the only brand which still considers shoes as shoes and not something that'll make you feel like Maria Sharapova or M.S.Dhoni. I want my shoes to be reliable, decent looking, comfortable and cheap. And the prospect of paying thrice the price for Air-bags or Special Speed-enhancing Cushions in the shoes don't attract me one bit (who the hell is running anyway?!). I love Bata, I love North Star. I also love Khadim's designs, but you don't get them outside Kolkata. So sad.

Enough. Back to work.

P.S.: (For the informationally challenged) I'm currently at IIM-A, trying my best to survive in a land where people wake up and say "Wow, what a wonderful day for mugging!"...oops, correction - considering the fact that we actually don't get the chance to sleep here, the last statement's political correctness is questionable, I guess. Would have loved to come up with a better one, but don't have time. Sorry.
I've started a blog on life at WIMWI (as IIMA is lovingly known down here). Don't know how much time I'd be getting to post articles there, but still, what the heck - check it out here!
