Game On!

Yay!

Got myself an XFX GeForce 6200 8X AGP card! It was my dream for a long, long time. Now I can actually play all those games which I had always wanted to play on my computer (sniff, sniff) - oh hell yeah! Got 512 MB of RAM to go along with that too.

As you might expect, no YAH-s for a few days. Sorry. I'm busy gaming.

Please excuse me while I kick some evil asses.

P.S.: Any suggestions for a game that'll really make this baby show off it's true colors?

Happy Onam

This Onam is turning out to be quite a happy one for me. Ok - extremely eventful, at least, if not entirely happy.

Actually, the exciting events were so excited themselves that they couldn't wait till today. Started off at around 11.30 last night with me and Jiggu's exciting bike-accident near GC (damn the fu*kin invisible bumper on a road filled with sand!). We reached the Park in a rather bloody state (was half-expecting a "there comes our bloody guests" from the receptionist). Nothing much happened though. We received some basic first-aid and went on to our host's place, and had our gala feast accompanied by lotsa different variations of pure apple juice, as promised. Limit you rock! (And your company rocks too.)

So much was the air filled with joy and ecstasy, that it took me a full 6 hours more to realize the searing pain in my right arm. Had to do something about it. Went to Hospi after breakfast. As usual, they started the proceedings with an injection and then an inquiry as to what the actual problem was. And then, the usual set of antibiotics. Seriously. The doctors there have really figured out the unified theory of medication. It's a pity they chose not to go into Physics. The Theory of Everything would have definitely gained a lot from them.

Came back, got bored for a while, then Lim again called up for lunch and I couldn't help but oblige. Was dressing up for the outing when I realized that the jeans I was wearing yesterday (and was going to wear today again) has been damaged beyond repair by the accident. So, after a great lunch at Pizza Hut, went for a shopping spree at Adyar. Got hold of a really cool pair for only 495 bucks! Went to Odyssey after that, spent a full 3 hours lost in that wonderful, wonderful place, bought a few books and came back home a happy (albeit a bit injured, but nonetheless, happy), satisfied man who now also knows how to ride (and also how not to ride) a scooter :)

Happy Onam, everybody!

The Bombastic Idea

This is what inspired in me the idea of app-ing to Israel, as expressed in today's comic.

What's app-ing?? Ask any IIT-ian doing an MS or a PhD in any university in a country of your choice. Nobody can explain it any better.

And, of course, I have nothing against the US. It's a sexy country filled with sexy people and sexy opportunities. May the Force be with the US. I love you, USA. Please don't bomb us too. Or help others bomb us. I don't want to die a virgin.

Ciao.

Inspirations

Yestreday's comic had a three-fold inspiration: this, this and, of course, this.

The absurdly spine-chillingly dark humor of Dr.Strangelove is something that I can only attempt to recreate, but never succeed. Hopefully no one does in real life. Ever. Amen.

We'll meet again.

Chak De!

Went to see Chak De India today.

Lovely movie. Was kinda getting that heart-warming "proud to be an Indian" feeling at the end of it after a long, long time! They should make more movies like this. Hats off to the cast and the crew. No out-of-the-blue songs and all (though the background music was, at times, a bit too much), no uncalled for overtly sentimental shit, production quality of a level which one expects from such a sports-oriented flick, not too many filmi gimmicks...Indian cinema's definitely coming of age!

I give it a cool 8.5 out of 10.

P.S. Some problem with blogger's image uploads, it seems. Couldn't upload today's YAH. Sigh. Will do later.

A Happy Day

Today's strip is self-explanatory. Check out the "mouse-over text" if you are bulbing too much (Hold mouse-pointer over picture for sometime. Some text will appear in a yellow box. That's it. Not exactly rocket science, you see.)

It was a very happy day alright. Wish all days were independent of each other. And all days were happy. And that my keyboard survived at least 10 more months. Sigh.

And, yeah, I know nobody reads this blog, but still, wish you all a very Happy Independence Day.

Now go back to work.

Elective Blues

The incident that inspired today's comic took place, as you might have figured it out already, in my 6th semester. We had to choose an Elective in our department, and it turned out that only 1 of them was related to Circuits (Integrated Optical Circuits and Devices)! I'm not going into the debate as to whether it was actually a circuits course at all; all I want to say is that, as far as I remember, the Communications guys had at least 2 options to choose from, and guys in other departments had some 3 to 4.

All these things coming back to me, of course, thanks to the tremendous harassment I had to face in the Humanities department recently, where I wanted to take my last course, a supposedly Free Elective.

Life isn't so cool at times in this place. Especially when people with inflated ego come over at the helm of things and start dictating terms which contain little logic.

Compared to the bitter taste that the recent turn of events left in my mouth, even the not-so-hallowed corridors of ESB look so much better!

Ah, the twists and turns of life...

Complicated things

I'm loving the Your Ad Here experience.

The theme for today's strip struck me when I found my keychain at ESB (which I thought was as good as lost), and I came outside to find the leaves on the trees swaying and swinging, as if with a joy that was also a part of my soul.

And, yesterday's strip was actually dedicated to someone. Don't worry, she'll understand :)

The strip's a poetry, I tell you, which, sadly, some of you will never be able to comprehend. It's so very personal. Not that it matters to me, though. Those who know me know it very well. I seldom do something for something else in mind.

Apart from that, felt nice when I went to a class today, after such a long time. (Not that I've been bunking too many of them; they kinda started today for me). One of the last few courses I attend here in IITM. Never knew would get sentimental over such a thing.

I'd never understand my heart.

No PHP!

Oh! The Horror!!

Realized that our departmental server (where I had plans of hosting my le grande webpage) doesn't support PHP and MySql.

Another big dream bites the dust. Sigh.

Ah nevermind. Hope I can get around with this Flash thingy soon enough.

Your Ad Here begins!

Yay! Big Day!

Your Ad Here launched. You can find them here. Got carried away a bit and posted a bonus comic along with the inaugural one. Hope you won't sue me for that. I don't have any money.

I'm not too happy with the layout on blogger. The images are getting shrunk too much. Hoping to come up with a solution soon. Any suggestions?

And yeah, of course, wish you all a very happy friendship day! :)

Back!

Ah! Finally back to sweet ol' insti! The train took just 9 hours more than what it was supposed to take. To think of it, that's one and a half-times more than the time it normally takes to come from Chennai to Bangalore. Amazing.

Shifted to room number 329. It's better, bigger and amazingly tranquil and serene, far away from the madding quadrangle atmosphere and bakchod junta. Ahhh..bliss. My stay in 221 will always remain a very special memory for me...but somehow I'm getting the feeling that this room fits me like a jack from a les paul into a marshall head. And I just looove the bigger bed (finally!) .

All this, of course, after the most perfect summer in Bangalore! Endless partying, just the right amount of music and getting to meet some really cool people...yo man! I just can't have enough of that city!

I'd rather say, the party's only started!

Watch out guys! One hip, hot and happening final year coming up!

P.S.: Finally figured out how to work around with these blogger templates. 'Customized' things a bit. Like what you see? Do let me know!
